THE PRACTICE

Meet Liya Gupta

Liya Gupta is a psychotherapist, ICF Professional Certified Coach and organisation development practitioner whose work connects psychological understanding with the realities of personal, professional and organisational life.

Her professional journey includes experience in corporate learning and development, giving her first-hand insight into leadership challenges, workplace relationships and the organisational realities that shape how people perform and grow.

Her therapeutic practice draws on Jungian and Freudian perspectives, Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems and insights from neuroscience. She works with individuals, couples and families in India and internationally, supporting concerns such as anxiety, relationships, grief, identity, confidence and significant life transitions.

Across psychotherapy, coaching and organisation development, Liya’s work brings a simple belief: lasting change becomes possible when we understand the human story beneath the visible difficulty.

03 / THE JOURNEY

Our story

A practice shaped by curiosity, psychology and the complexity of being human.

The Becoming Collective India grew from Liya Gupta’s professional evolution and a question that stayed with her: what helps people create change that is not only visible, but lasting? Her early career in corporate learning and development gave her a close view of organisational life— its pressures, relationships, ambitions and often-unspoken dynamics.

Over time, she became increasingly curious about the human experience beneath performance and behaviour: what shapes the way people respond under pressure, why familiar patterns persist, and what makes meaningful change possible.

What changes when we begin to see what we could not see before?

This curiosity led her into sustained study and training in psychology, psychotherapy and related approaches. Her learning developed into practice, the practice into a psychotherapy practice while continuing to support leaders and organisations through coaching, learning and organisation development engagements.

The two worlds proved deeply connected. The patterns that influence an individual’s emotional life can shape leadership, workplace relationships and organisational culture. Liya’s corporate experience gave her a practical understanding of organisational realities, while her psychological and coaching training helped her work with these visible and human layers together.

Over time, these strands came together in an integrated way of working—psychologically informed, yet firmly connected to everyday life and work. Liya’s approach is warm and responsive, with an emphasis on listening and understanding context rather than rushing to answers.

The Becoming Collective is created to give this approach a home. It brings together psychotherapy, leadership coaching and organisation development within one practice. The disciplines remain distinct, but share a common thread: deeper understanding, strengthened care and support for effective implementation.

The work is still evolving and it always will. With insight, nuance and the right support, how choices are made, how relationships are navigated and how people lead can change.

This is the spirit in which The Becoming Collective India continues to evolve—and the spirit it brings to every engagement.

THE IDEA

Why “Becoming”?

Becoming is not about turning into somebody else. It is the continuing process of understanding who you are, what has shaped you, and what now feels possible.

It involves meeting the parts of ourselves that are often hidden, questioning patterns that no longer serve us and making space for new possibilities.

For an individual, becoming may mean feeling self-acceptance or a more authentic relationship with oneself and others. For a leader, it may mean recognising blind spots and developing a more conscious way of exercising influence. For an organisation, it may mean confronting unspoken patterns and creating healthier ways of working.

Becoming is therefore not a fixed destination. It is an ongoing journey towards greater freedom, authentic expression and fulfilment—guided by the willingness to keep asking: What is possible now, and what comes next?
